This is the latest version of the flier, designed in Illustrator. You can see some obvious improvement between this and the other poster.
This is one of the first posters I made for Danny. Done in Canva, it has a childish look to it by comparison.
You can see how I was able to remove artifacts from his face in Illustrator, unlike in the Canva image. I removed the circle in his mouth (A CIGG?? Oh My) and the odd shading on his right cheek.
Using the tool to get an outline with Canva was challenging.

I did not like a flier someone else designed for Danny. So, I took a crack at it. I started out in Canva. The most recent flier was created in Illustrator. Here are some benefits of using Illustrator over Canva that really hit for me:

  • I have better control over color and can work with the color type used by professional printers.
  • Texture is infinitely easier to add now. I’m using two textures from Retro Supply Company here.
  • Margin tools, grids, and the alignment panel! Let’s get centered and aligned.
